Our Terms

Standard terms and Conditions of Vehicle Rental Agreement

 Lumiere Car Rental, hereafter called “Owner”, rents the vehicle that is mentioned overleaf to the “Renter” subject to the terms and conditions mentioned overleaf and below.

Owner undertaking:

 To provide insurance cover for the vehicle and third party liabilities as per company policy (available to read and understand) Renter shall have the option to accept or decline personal insurance coverage for driver and passengers and CDW at extra cost as shown overleaf at the time of signing this agreement.

To keep the registration (“mulkiya”) of the vehicle valid, subject to Renter making the vehicle available for RTA inspection.

To maintain and repair the vehicle due to normal wear and tear.

Renter undertaking:

To pay all rental charges mentioned overleaf upfront or within a maximum period of 2 days from due date and accept that the rental charges may be subject TO change for reasons beyond the control of the Owner. Renter further agrees to pay all dues without prior demand, in advance, or as agreed, at the time of signing the agreement.

Minimum rental period is one day (24 hrs) with a maximum grace period of 2 hours. An additional day’s rental will be charged for returns exceeding the grace period.

For monthly contracts, it is agreed that in case the rental vehicle is returned before the completion of the first month, the rate applicable is the weekly rate (billing on a 7-day basis). For weekly hires, in case the rental vehicle is returned before completion of the first week, the rate applicable is the daily rate (billing on a 24-hour basis).

 Minimum age of the driver driving the car is 25 years. The driver must have a valid driving license acceptable to the authorities that is at minimum 12 months old, or based on conditions as stated by Owner. Only drivers named in the agreement are allowed to drive the vehicle and incase of any additional driver requirement, driver documents HAVE to be submitted to Owner for record. No insurance claim will be possible in case of non-compliance with this clause.

 To inform the Owner in case of any change in address, contact details, place of work, visa status, renewed license, passport and all related documents.

 To inform the Owner in case of an accident and obtain a Police report to process an insurance claim. Insurance excess amount of AED 1500 (or as agreed overleaf) out of the total indemnity will be payable in case it is “Fault of the Renter” / “Hit & Run” / “No third party is identified” prior to taking the vehicle for repair. Renter will pay entire damages (including Third Party liability) subject to the Company policy in case Original Police Report is not provided by the Renter due to any reason or violation of any of the terms and conditions in this agreement.

 Pay for repair of the vehicle damaged not due to normal wear and tear (tyre puncture and rim damage, and damage as a result of tyre puncture, are not included in “normal wear and tear”).and damage due to natural calamities, in the event that a Police Report is not provided. Owner agrees to change tyres due to wear and tear, estimated to be every 60,000 – 70,000 kms.

 To pay a security deposit amount of AED 1500 (or as agreed overleaf). Deposit will be kept minimum for 21 working days from date of closing the agreement and will not be adjusted against any dues at the time of closing agreement. Renter will be required to show original receipt at the time of refund.

 To compensate the Owner in case the Renter violates the terms and conditions of the agreement and causes damage, loss or theft of the vehicle or part of it due to any reason, irrespective of driver’s fault, the amount of all resulting losses and expenses incurred by the Owner ( including but not limited to replacement or recovery costs, repair costs) compensation for reduction in value, fines etc. and loss of revenue.

 To return the vehicle in overall good condition, without apparent defects / damages and with all documents and accessories to the Owner’s location on the date designated in this agreement.

 Not sub-let, give possession to a third party, and/or use the vehicle for any illegal or criminal activities.

 Not to use the vehicle while the Renter or the Driver is under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other substance impairing his / her consciousness or ability to react. No insurance claim will be possible under these circumstances.

 Not to use the vehicle for transporting liquor, drug or any other contraband item prohibited by law.

 Not to use the vehicle outside the geographical limits of UAE unless agreed in this agreement. Insurance extensions for travel to the Sultanate of Oman can be made available, subject to prior written approval from owner and payment of a fee and a deposit.

Not to drive the vehicle through water or leave vehicle in still water and accept liabilities in case of damages to the engine and any other parts of the vehicle. Vehicles are for paved-road driving only. Desert driving and off-roading are not permitted.

Not to use the vehicle for towing, propelling, rallying, racing or any other activity that may result in damage to the vehicle.

 To check all fluid levels, type pressure at regular interval and accept liabilities for all damages for using the vehicle below the specified limit.

 To monitor and bring the vehicle to Owner’s premises for service, maintenance, and registration renewal with prior appointment, or through any other arrangement made in consultation with Owner

 To return the vehicle with same level of fuel as when given on the Vehicle Check Out date and agree to pay the difference in fuel level at 1.5 times the actual cost.

 To pay AED 500 in case the original registration card is lost

 To pay the cost of key replacement and a service charge of AED 100, in case the car key is lost, misplaced or damaged.

 To pay minimum of AED 1000 in cases of Renter smoking, eating or carrying pets inside the vehicle. Determination of violations to this clause will be borne solely by the Owner’s employee conducting the vehicle inspection up on Vehicle Check-ln

 Not to repair the vehicle by any unauthorized garage or person and pay AED 50 for exterior cleaning, AED 100 for interior cleaning and AED 300 for shampooing in case the vehicle is returned dirty.

While returning the vehicle, initial vehicle inspection is completed during vehicle handover and the comprehensive inspection is done within 3 working days. 

 To pay a service fee in the event of a service request in case Owner’s service team is called for assistance due to Renter’s fault like battery drained out.

 To accept all liabilities, and hold Owner harmless for use of the vehicle during its possession.

 To pay for all fines on car immediately, It is also understood that Owner will be required to pay all Fines immediately and hence will not be responsible to provide photograph or any other additional information or clarification. For any discrepancies related to any fines, it will be renter responsibity to inform and follow up with concern authority.

 Owner has the right to terminate the contract and take possession of the vehicle at the expenses of the Renter in case the Renter does not pay the rental, fines, salik or any outstanding in his account , misuses the vehicle, uses it for illegal or criminal activities or violates any of the terms and conditions mentioned in this agreement.

 For early termination by the Renter due to any reason, Renter agrees to compensate the Owner as agreed in this agreement. Renter will be liable to pay the Early Termination charges as per the agreement.

During vehicle checkout its customer responsibility to inspect vehicle for all the damages and to check vehicle millage/fuel and to mark it in the report. While returning the vehicle, initial vehicle inspection is completed during vehicle handover and the comprehensive inspection is done within 3 working days.

The temporary replacement vehicle provided to renter for vehicle service, repair, and renewal or for any reason could be of same or lower category. The replacement vehicle provided will fall under renter responsibility.

For any emergency, the customer can contact our third party Road Side Assistance team at 800 8181 and provide them plate/chassis number of vehicle to avail this service. Our emergency services are limited to battery booster, vehicle towing, accidental recovery and all other service our third party team could provide. In case any emergency which could not be resolved by Road Side Assistance team, Its customer responsibility to keep the car in safe place and inform us and our team member will be in touch with you next working day (incase incident took place after office working hours). Depending on the services used, the customer may be liable to additional charges.

In case car return or pickup date falls on a holiday or after working hours, it will be automatically extended until next working day. Any refunds approved by management for early car return, downgrading agreement or for any reason, It will be in the form of Credit Note with a validity for 6 months, cash refunds are not permitted.

In the event  of conflict between the text in English and Arabic language, the competent court determines that Arabic text will prevail, it is agreed that English text will be used to assist any interpretation.
